In most countries, all paintings, sculpture, architecture, text, and other creative works have copyrights which last for 70 years after the death of the creator. An image of a work that is still under copyright is a derivative work, and infringes on the copyright so that we cannot usually keep the image on Commons. In some countries, there is a special exception to the copyright law which allows such images under certain circumstances. We call that exception freedom of panorama (FOP). Unfortunately there is no applicable FOP exception in Cambodia. This infringes on the copyright for the two buildings that are the principal subject. . Jim . . . - Dear Jim, thanks a lot for the notice! Please provide the exact number and date of the Cambodia law related to authorship, which you are sure this image violates. Also I'd like to ask you to make a proper translation from Khmer into English, because me and possibly other wikipedia contributors are not very familiar with Khmer language. Have you asked an opinion of a lawyer who specializes in copyrights? I would like to see his answer here, preferably with his contact details. Thank you so much for making Wikipedia better. --Dmitry A. Mottl (talk) 17:52, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
