Ex-Manchester United defender Chris Smalling joins Al-Fayha FC

Former England and Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has completed a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Fayha.

According to BBC, the 34-year-old will have a medical with Al-Fayha, and providing there are no issues, he will complete his move to the Saudi club.

This transfer will end Smalling’s five-year spell at Roma, who he initially joined from Manchester United on loan in 2019.

Smalling made more than 150 appearances for the Italian club and was part of the side that won the 2022 Europa Conference League and also played in the Europa League final defeat against Sevilla the following season.

Before that, he was part of two Premier League title-winning squads with Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson.

He also has 31 caps for the Three Lions although his latest came in 2017.

Al-Fayha had a disastrous start to their season losing their first two games conceding five goals and scoring only once and will hope Smalling can help them tighten up their defence.
