Al-Raed sign Karim El Berkaoui after Zamalek's move fell through

Al-Raed has successfully secured Karim El Berkaoui by extending his contract, blocking Zamalek’s attempts to acquire the Moroccan forward.

Al-Raed have officially extended Karim El Berkaoui’s contract, shutting down Zamalek’s efforts to bring the Moroccan forward to Cairo. El Berkaoui, who has been a standout performer for Al-Raed since 2020, opted to remain in the Saudi Professional League, over a move to Egypt.

Zamalek were keen on reinforcing their squad following a disappointing season and saw El Berkaoui as a crucial addition to boost their attack.

The Cairo giants had been negotiating with the player, viewing his goal-scoring record—51 goals in 106 appearances for Al-Raed—as a significant asset. However, the player’s commitment to Al-Raed puts an end to Zamalek’s hopes of signing him.

Al-Raed confirmed the contract renewal through their social media platforms, highlighting El Berkaoui as their latest and final addition to the list of eight foreign players for the season. This move demonstrates the club’s intent to remain competitive in the league, leveraging El Berkaoui’s experience and consistent performance.

Zamalek’s pursuit of El Berkaoui was crucial to addressing gaps in their lineup, following a third-place finish in the Egyptian Premier League and early exits from cup competitions. The club is now expected to redirect its efforts toward securing other targets to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
