Al Ahly have reportedly received an offer from Saudi second-division club Al-Dera’a FC to sign Amr El-Sulya on loan.
According to Egyptian publication Yallakora, the Cairo giants received a proposal from the Saudi club to sign the midfielder on loan with the club management leaving the decision to head coach Marcel Koller.
El-Sulya had renewed his contract with Al Ahly for one more season earlier in the summer. It remains to be seen what Koller will decide to do.
The Red Devils already have an abundance in midfielders in Emam Ashour, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Akram Tawfik, Ahmed Nabil Kouka and Marwan Ateya. They are also insisting on a deal for Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane.
Having joined Al Ahly in 2016, El-Sulya had an illustrious career, winning four Egyptian Cups, four Egyptian Super Cups, two CAF Super Cups, six Egyptian Premier League, and four CAF Champions League titles.
The 35-year-old also managed to achieve a historic feat of scoring in three different CAF Champions League finals as well as winning three bronze Club World Cup medals in 2020, 2021, and 2023.
Overall, El-Sulya has made over 300 appearances for the African champions and has 50 international caps to his name, being part of the squad that lost the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final.
Al Ahly already had a good summer window signing Youssef Ayman, Achraf Dari and Yahya Attiat Allah to strengthen the weak spots in their squad. They let go of Aliou Dieng, Mohamed Dhaoui Cristo, Ahmed Abd El Kader, Mohamed AbdelMonen and Mahmoud Metwally. It remains to be seen whether El Solya will be next.
