Ettifaq agrees deal with Chelsea for England captain

Ettifaq agrees with Chelsea for England captain

Saudi Pro League club Ettifaq has agreed to a deal with Chelsea to sign English youngster Harvey Vale.

Although Chelsea and Ettifaq reached an agreement, it is not yet known whether Vale wants to move to Saudi Arabia at that stage of his career.

According to the Athletic, the 20-year-old midfielder is still weighing up his decision, especially as his contract with Chelsea expires by the end of the current season.

After two loan spells at Hull City and Bristol Rovers respectively in the past two seasons, Chelsea decided to consider offers for Vale and Saudi club Ettifaq pounced.

Moving to Ettifaq would provide Vale the opportunity to work with head coach Steven Gerrard but would also mean moving a significant distance away from his family at a young age.

Vale was named Chelsea’s academy player of the year in 2022 and was England’s captain when they won the European Under-19 Championship the same year.

Ettifaq started the campaign with a tough 1-0 win against Al-Shabab and they play next on Wednesday, August 28 at 6:45 PM CET against Al-Okhdood.
