Cape Verde manager Pedro Bubista and goalkeeper Vozinha shared their thoughts on the upcoming AFCON Qualification match against Egypt.
Egypt has been drawn in a group with Cape Verde, Botswana, and Mauritania in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Pharaohs will start their campaign against Cape Verde on Friday 6 September 2024 at 10 PM CET.
Speaking to ON Time Sports 2, Bubista expressed his excitement about playing in Egypt, saying: “I am happy to be here in Egypt.
“We are a team that tries to do its best and we have some new players. We may adjust our plan, but the target is winning the three points.”
When asked about the differences between their previous meeting in this year’s AFCON and the upcoming match, Bubista noted: “We know that Egypt [have] played four games under their new manager.
“It is so difficult to compare the old and new managers of the Egyptian National Team, but we are proud to play against Egypt and we know how difficult it is to qualify from this group.”
Cape Verde’s goalkeeper, Vozinha, also spoke about the challenge of facing Egypt, especially with Mohamed Salah in their lineup. He told ON Time Sports 2: “Egypt is one of the best teams in world football.
“We know how tough it is to play against Egypt, especially on their home pitch and in front of their fans.”
The goalkeeper also expressed admiration for the Egyptian National Team’s players, particularly highlighting Salah as one of the world’s top attackers, saying: “We know that they have Salah, who is one of the best forwards in the world. There are a lot of exceptional players in that team.”
