‘Jota is out of my plans’, says Ittihad Jeddah boss Laurent Blanc

Ittihad Jeddah manager Laurent Blanc has revealed that Jota is completely out of his plans after their win over Al-Kholood.

The Tigers started their Saudi Pro League campaign on Saturday evening with a 1-0 victory against Al-Kholood, thanks to a 94th-minute winner from summer-signing Houssem Aouar.

Jota, who has had a turbulent time in Saudi Arabia since his arrival last year, failed to make the travelling squad despite still being on Ittihad’s books.

The Portuguese has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League since January but the 25-year-old opted to stay and fight for his place.

However, it seems that his exit is now imminent with just days remaining before the transfer window closure according to Laurent Blanc.

“We deserved the victory today,” Blanc said after the game. “Of course, we deserved a better outcome but we have a good team that will only improve with time.

“Jota? He’s not training with the group anymore. We are trying to find him a new club as a solution as he is not in my plans.”
