Ahmed Yasser Rayan: Pitso Mosimane promised me game time at Al Ahly

Former Al Ahly centre-forward Ahmed Yasser Rayan has opened up on his time at the Reds with former manager Pitso Mosimane.

Rayan had left Al Ahly to join Cermacia Cleopatra on a permanent deal back in September of 2022 due to lack of game time with the champions.

The 25-year-old found his form under head coach Ayman El-Ramady and was recently in action for Ceramica in the Egyptian Super Cup, which took place in the United Arab Emirates.

After returning to Egypt, the striker recently talked about his relationship with Mosimane and lifted the lid on a conversation they had before the latter’s departure.

“I spoke with Mosimane and told him that I only wanted a chance to play,” Rayan told Sada El-Balad TV channel.

“He made it clear that it would be difficult for me to start games at Al Ahly, so I asked him to go out on loan and I told him that I would be the league’s top scorer.

“He had doubts back then, but when I scored 15 goals that season, he said that I had won the bet we had and promised me game time, but it was unfortunate that he left the club.

“The day I left Al Ahly was very difficult for me after spending 18 years at the club,” he added.
