Ahmed Yasser Rayan scores in Altay’s defeat against Fenerbahçe

Altay SK’s striker Ahmed Yasser Rayan continued his impressive scoring record, opening the scoring in his team’s defeat to Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Super League.

The 23-year-old striker had joined Turkish Super League outfit Altay SK on a season-long loan from African champions Al Ahly just earlier this season.

Despite being used mainly as a substitute, Rayan managed to score eight goals in just eight starts, with four of his strikes coming in the Turkish Cup and the other four in the league.

Rayan’s latest contribution was against giants Fenerbahçe, as the 23-year-old was handed an unusual start by head coach Mustafa Denizli.

It only took the Egyptian striker 14 minutes to find himself in a one-on-one situation with Fenerbahçe goalkeeper, before easily netting the first goal of the night.

Despite Altay’s early lead, they couldn’t get out with a positive result. Fenerbahçe equalized in the 37th minute through Irfan Kahveci, before Serdar Dursun found the winner in the 71st minute, ending the game in a 2-1 victory.

While Rayan is enjoying good form with his team, Altay are suffering in the Turkish Super League, lying 18th on the table, with 18 points, five adrift from safety.

Altay’s next league game will be against second-placed Konyaspor on the 23rd of January, where they will be looking to escape from the relegation zone.

The game will see Rayan coming against countryman and also ex-Al Ahly youngster Ahmed Hassan Kouka, who will be looking for his 100th European goal.
