Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC are reportedly finalizing their deal with international left-back Karim Hafez.
Pyramids have had a relatively successful Egyptian Premier League campaign, having managed to finish in second place for the first time in history.
In order to maintain their stability, the Blues renewed the contracts of head coach Takis Gonias, promising star Ibrahim Adel, and goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawy.
Furthermore, they are aiming to make a number of strong signings, starting with international left-back Karim Hafez who’s set to return to Egypt through Pyramids.
A product of Wadi Degla academy, Hafez spent the majority of his career in Europe since 2014, representing the likes of Lierse SK, Omonia Nikosia, RC Lens, Istanbul Basaksehir, Kasimpasa, and Yeni Malatyaspor.
Overall, the 26-year-old left-back made over 200 appearances in Europe across Belgium, Cyprus, France, and Turkey, assisting 26 times while scoring five goals.
On the international level, Hafez has represented the Pharaohs on seven occasions and was part of the Egypt team that took part in the 2017 AFCON.
However, Hafez has been a free agent since his contract with Malatyaspor came to an end last July following the club’s relegation from the Turkish Super Lig.
But that didn’t stop him from attracting interest from Pyramids FC, who are now believed to be on the verge of signing the Egypt international on a free move.
If the deal goes through, this could open the door for Mohamed Hamdi to depart the club, with Al Ahly keen on signing back the left-back.
