Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush starred in Eintracht Frankfurt’s win in the preliminary round of the German Cup.
Frankfurt beat Bundesliga 2 club Eintracht Braunschweig 4-1 away from home in the first round of the German Cup to advance to the next stage.
Omar Marmoush started the new campaign on the right foot with two assists, taking his goal contribution tally with Frankfurt to 25 (17 goals and eight assists) in 42 games.
Fares Chaibi opened the scoring for Frankfurt in the 52nd minute before Hugo Ekitike made it two four minutes later after the Egyptian forward nudged the ball into his direction.
In the 61st minute, Ekitike scored his second of the night to make it 3-0, and Igor Matanovic added the fourth goal in the 88th minute, heading in Omar Marmoush’s free-kick cross.
Levente Szabo scored a late consolation goal for the hosts as Frankfurt advanced to the round of 32 with a comfortable 4-1 victory.
Frankfurt and Marmoush will now shift their focus on the Bundesliga, which they start its new campaign on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund.
