OFFICIAL: Zamalek announce signing of ex-CF Montréal player Ahmed Hamdi

Zamalek have announced the signing of former Al Ahly and CF Montréal player Ahmed Hamdi on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old has been a free agent since his departure from CF Montréal upon completion of the 2023 MLS Season.

He now returns to Egypt for the first time since February 2021 when he left El-Gouna for Montréal in a €500,000 deal.

Zamalek revealed that Hamdi has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him in Mit Okba until the summer of 2027.

A product of Al Ahly’s youth sector, Hamdi made 18 appearances for the Reds in which he scored twice and assisted three times, before joining El-Gouna initially on loan, before permanently for free.

In Canada, Hamdi scored three goals in 53 appearances over three years, helping them win the 2021 Canadian Cup.

He lifted two league titles with Al Ahly while also being capped once by the Pharaohs, making his sole appearance in a 4-1 defeat to South Korea in 2022.
