‘They knew I had mental health issues,’ Amr Warda lifts lid on Pharco exit

Amr Warda has explained the reasons behind his departure from Pharco just over a month after signing for the club.

The 30-year-old’s summer rollercoaster continued last week as Pharco terminated his contract after failing to show up to team training.

Despite joining Pharco two months ago, Warda now finds himself without a club once more following his short stint in Morocco.

Raja Casablanca had signed Warda earlier in the summer but parted ways with the winger over personal reasons from the player’s side according to their statement.

“What happened was that I signed with Raja and the next day, I was at the hospital and stayed there for 15 days suffering from continuous panic attacks,” Warda told MBC Masr.

“The reason I stopped training is that I have been receiving psychological treatment for depression for some time, and they [Pharco] knew I had mental health issues.

“I had a good reputation before the 2018 World Cup and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. If people want me to retire, then I will.

“I want my family to be proud of me, and my goal is to return to Europe and get my place in the national team again.

“All I want is for people to stand by me because I represented Egypt in the past and no one knows the amount of pain I have been through,” he added.
