Amr Warda set for surprising move to Raja Casablanca

Amr Warda set for surprising move to Raja Casablanca

Raja Casablanca’s president Mohamed Boudrika has confirmed the signing of Egypt international Amr Warda on a free transfer.

Amr Warda became a free agent after his contract with Cypriot side Apollon Limassol FC expired earlier this summer.

As a result, Warda was linked with a return to Egypt, having left Al Ahly in the summer of 2015, and even moves to Spain and Greece, where he played the majority of his career.

But Warda ended up making a shock move to Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca after the president of the club confirmed the move on Wednesday evening.

“We have reached an agreement with Amr Warda to sign a contract for two seasons. We have successfully concluded all the financial and contractual arrangements with the player,” Boudrika said.

“The player is waiting to obtain the visa to enter Moroccan territories in order to finalize the contract officially.

“Amr Warda is a distinguished player, and we aim to bring in other distinguished Egyptian players to Raja in the near future,” he added.

Warda will become Raja’s fifth summer signing after deals for Sundowns’ Haashim Domingo, Youssef Belammari, Adam Ennaffati, and Abdellah Khafifi.

He will also become the second-ever Egyptian to represent Raja after Amr Zaki, who spent a very brief spell with the club in 2014.

Raja endured a difficult season last season after finishing fifth on the league table and losing the cup final, meaning they will miss out on CAF competitions next season.
