OFFICIAL: Amr Warda departs Cypriot giants Apollon Limassol

Cypriot giants Apollon Limassol have announced the departure of former Egypt international Amr Warda after the player’s contract has come to an end.

Warda had joined Apollon last January from fellow league rivals Anorthosis Famagusta for a fee reported to be around €120,000.

Warda became a regular at the Alphamega Stadium, making 19 appearances in which he scored four goals and provided further four assists.

Apollon ended up qualifying for the Championship round but ended up finishing fifth on the league table and won’t play in Europe next season.

Despite his impressive performances, Warda and Apollon couldn’t reach an agreement on a new contract, and the Egyptian is set to leave the club on a free transfer.

Warda has been quite of a journeyman after coming out of the youth ranks of Al Ahly, playing for seven different clubs across Greece and Cyprus.

PAOK FC would be regarded as the biggest club Warda has represented during his journey in Europe, which saw him win the Greek league in 2019 as well as three Greek cups.

On the international level, Warda has 30 caps to his name, representing Egypt the 2018 World Cup and the 2017 & 2019 AFCONs, with the latter being his last-ever call-up for the Pharaohs.
