OFFICIAL: Amr Warda joins Cypriot champions Apollon Limassol

Egypt international Amr Warda has completed a switch to Cypriot champions Apollon Limassol from league rivals Anorthosis Famagusta.

Warda has been plying his trade at Anorthosis since August of 2021 when he joined on a free transfer from Greek giants PAOK FC.

The 29-year-old produced consistent performances in Cyprus, scoring 12 goals and providing further 12 assists in 53 games, helping his side reach the Championship group last season and eventually finish fifth in the league table.

His solid performances saw him getting approached by current Cypriot champions Apollon Limassol, who managed to sign the Egyptian for a fee of just €120,000.

Apollon were desperate to bolster their squad after securing just 25 points in their 15 games as they currently sit sixth on the league table.

Warda put pen to paper on a short-term deal that expires at the end of the current season as he would need to prove himself to earn himself an extended contract.

Warda is Apollon’s first winter signing and will become the most valued player in the club at a market value of €1.5m ahead of former Malaga player Recio & Cyprus international Ioannis Pittas.

The club also becomes Warda’s ninth of his career, having represented the likes of Al Ahly, Ittihad of Alexandria, and PAOK FC to name a few.

Coached by Konstantinos Makridis, Apollon are four-time Cypriot champions, most recently in 2006 and 2022, while winning nine Cypriot Cups, and four Cypriot Super Cups.
