REPORT: Al-Taawoun not keen on terminating Mostafa Fathi's contract

Saudi club Al-Taawoun have no intention of terminating Mostafa Fathi’s contract despite his military service issues.

Just last January, Fathi completed a $1m move to Saudi side Al-Taawoun from Zamalek after refusing to sign a new contract with the Whites.

The 28-year-old impressed in just a short time, scoring five goals while assisting twice in 12 league games, helping the club avoid the drop on the final matchday.

While Fathi is seen to be one of Al-Taawoun’s biggest names, he failed to report for the club’s pre-season camp in Holland amid rumours he is pushing for a move to Al Ahly.

However, according to Saudi news, the real reason behind Fathi’s absence from the training camp is issues related to his military service.

This led to rumours suggesting that Al-Taawoun will be terminating Fathi’s contract; however, these news were now rebuffed by Arriyadh news.

The Saudi news outlet stressed that Al-Taawoun have no intention of letting Fathi go even though he has been absent for around 50 days.

Moreover, it’s believed Fathi’s first desire is to return back to Al-Taawoun even if it takes time to solve the issues related to the military service.
