Pyramids FC drama continues as club respond to Fathi fall out rumours

Pyramids FC director of football Hani Said has rubbished rumours of the intentions of letting Egypt legend Ahmed Fathi go at the end of the season.

The 36-year-old had joined Pyramids FC last November on a free transfer from Al Ahly, despite the Reds trying to give him a new deal, but Fathi wanted to leave after losing his spot to Mohamed Hany.

At Pyramids, however, Fathi still struggled to break into the first-team, starting just 11 games out of 22 across all competitions as the club currently sit third, eight points behind leaders Zamalek.

This led Fathi to get into a verbal argument with head coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena before another rumoured fall out with the club’s technical advisor Ahmed Hossam Mido.

And just last night, news emerged that Pyramids are keen on releasing Ahmed Fathi at the end of the season, something which was denied by director of football Hani Said.

“Ahmed Fathi is my little brother. I have known him since we used to play together in Ismaily, and our relationship is strong,” Said revealed.

“There was no problem between me and Fathi, but he was upset due to lack of playing time, and this is his right.

“I spoke with him afterwards and informed him that the issue was related to technical matters and he spoke with the coach at the time.

“The decision to participate is only for the head coach, and we should not talk about it.

“I don’t know the details of the call between Ahmed Hossam Mido (the technical advisor and official spokesperson for the club) and Fathi, because it took place a few minutes before Pyramids travelled to Morocco.

“The club does not think of releasing Ahmed Fathi, and the rumours are fake. We are proud of having Fathi at the club.

“If we have any problem, we will announce it, but there are no problems in the team,” he added.

Fathi is not the first player to express his anger at Pyramids FC as also trio El-Mahdy Soliman, Abdallah Bakri, and Ragab Bakar went on a rant against the whole organization, with the latter calling Rodolfo Arruabarrena a liar.
