Despite not featuring in the final due to his transfer to Pyramids FC, Fathi collected his fourth Champions League medal as Al Ahly beat arch-rivals Zamalek in the final.

He started training with his new club last week and after the club’s recent swab tests, the player has tested positive for COVID-19.

It’s worth mentioning that Fathi’s whole family contracted the virus last June, however, he got away with it.

Fathi becomes the latest Pyramids FC player to contract the virus after Ali Gaber and goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawy.

The versatile defender has had a remarkable career, winning 132 caps for Egypt, and lifting 11 league titles, four Champions League, and many more trophies during his time with both Ismaily and Al Ahly.
