Egypt defender Ahmed Fetouh detained after fatal car accident

The Egyptian Public Prosecution has decided to detain Zamalek and Egypt defender Ahmed Fetouh for four days pending investigation.

Earlier on Sunday, Ahmed Fetouh was referred to the public prosecution office after hitting a police officer with his car.

The incident took place during the early hours of Sunday on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, leading to the death of the police officer.

Fetouh was on his way back to Cairo, accompanied by his club teammate, Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi.

After the accident, Fetouh was detained at the Alamein Police Station until he was presented to the public prosecution, while Sobhi was released as the car belonged to Fetouh and the goalkeeper was not driving.

Immediately after their arrest, a drug test was conducted on both players to determine if they had consumed any drugs before the incident, with the preliminary test results returning negative.

However, the Public Prosecution has decided that another drug sample will be taken from the player for further analysis while detaining him for four days pending investigation.
