Eyad El-Askalany suffers ACL tear

Egyptian defender Eyad El-Askalany has torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a match in the Russian Premier League.

The 19-year-old entered the game against Krasnodar FC as a substitute, but unfortunately sustained a serious knee injury and was forced out after just seven minutes on the pitch.

This setback comes after Eyad had already missed Egypt’s Paris 2024 Olympic campaign due to an ankle injury.

He had played the full 90 minutes against FC Orenburg in the Russian Cup and had started earning minutes off the bench in league matches for his club, Rostov FC.

Since making his move to Rostov FC from Ismaily last season, Eyad El-Askalany has struggled for consistent game time, featuring in just nine matches.

This latest injury could further jeopardize his efforts to secure a regular spot in the squad, as it places his position in the team hierarchy in an uncertain situation.

The KingFut team wishes Eyad El Askalany a speedy and full recovery.
