OFFICIAL: Ehab Galal takes charge of Ismaily for second time

Ehab Galal has been reappointed as Ismaily’s head coach for a second spell almost two years after leaving the club.

Galal has been jobless since January 2023 when he was sacked by Pharco after just eight games, which saw him win one and lose four.

Recently, Galal hasn’t managed to remain in one job for more than three months, having suffered quick sackings by his last three employers, Pharco, Al Masry, and the Egyptian national team.

The 55-year-old will now hope to bring back his glory days after taking over Ismaily ahead of the upcoming season, replacing Hamza El-Gamal.

Galal had coached Ismaily during the 2020/21 season, taking over Ismaily in 19 games and helping them steer away from relegation, before leaving to coach Pyramids FC.

During his first spell, Ismaily won nine, drew three, and lost seven in 19 games, scoring 29 goals and conceding 24.

Galal will have a tough task on his hands this time as the club is currently facing a transfer ban due to outstanding fees owed to former players and managers.

Ismaily finished last season in 11th place, surviving the drop on the penultimate matchday, and were knocked out early in both the Egypt Cup and League Cup.

To make matters worse, the club lost the services of many key players during the summer, including Serge Aka, Firas Chaouat, Ahmed Madbouli, and Mohamed El Shami.
