Ismaily announce Ibrahim Hamad as new head coach

Egyptian Premier League side Ismaily have officially announced Hamad Ibrahim as a new head coach after the dismissal of Juan Brown.

Brown was appointed by Ismaily in November of last year in hopes of turning around the team’s fortunes.

While he guided Ismaily to the League Cup semi-finals, Brown failed to win any of the six league games he was in charge of, drawing three while losing the other three as his side scored just two goals.

Ismaily now find themselves lying last to bottom with just three points from their opening nine league games, five points adrift from safety.

As a result, Ismaily’s club board led by Yehia El-Komy has decided to relieve Brown from his duties after just 11 games in charge.

Following the Argentinian’s dismissal, rumors surfaced about Sebastien Desabre returning to Ismaily, but the negotiations broke down.

The club has then settled for Pyramids FC assistant manager Hamad Ibrahim as the new head coach in hopes of leading the team to safety.

Hamad is no stranger to the club, having previously worked as an assistant manager to Ehab Galal at Ismaily last season before accompanying him to Pyramids.

He had also served as an assistant manager to Heron Ferreira, Ahmed El-Agouz, and Shawky Gharib at Ismaily back between 2013 to 2014.

Since then, Hamad has worked as Ehab Galal’s assistant coach for around eight years at Misr El-Makkasa, ENPPI, Zamalek, Al Ahli Tripoli, Ismaily, and most recently Pyramids FC.

This will mark Ibrahim’s first job as a head coach as he now signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Ismaily, with his first game in charge coming against El-Gouna on Wednesday.

His backroom staff will consist of Ateya El-Sayed as a general coach, Ahmed Samir Farag as a coach, and Sayed Tawfik as a goalkeeping coach.
