Jota fails medical as Ittihad Jeddah exit falls through

Portuguese winger Jota has reportedly failed his medical at Saudi club Ettifaq as an exit from Ittihad Jeddah continues to evade him.

Ettifaq and Ittihad Jeddah had agreed to a swap deal that would have seen Jota and Hamed Al-Ghamdi switch clubs on loan until the end of the season.

However, according to Saudi publication Arriyadiyah, the deal was put on halt, after Jota failed his medical examination conducted in Qatar, where

The report added that as a result, Hamed Al-Ghamdi has returned to Ettifaq, and his fate will be decided in the upcoming days, either joining Ittihad or moving to another club on loan.

Jota joined the Tigers last summer from Celtic in a €29m deal that turned into a nightmare after the Saudi champions left him out for their Saudi Pro League squad.

Keen on ending his time in Saudi Arabia, Jota emerged as a target to several European clubs this winter, most notably Tottenham and FC Porto, but he looks destined to stay at Ittihad this winter.
