Mohamed Salah nominated for Premier League Player of the Month

Egyptian Winger Mohamed Salah has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for August.

Mohamed Salah has had a stellar start to the season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in three games which earned him the nomination.

He kicked off the season with a goal and assist against Ipswich, before scoring against Brentford and then contributing to all three goals in the derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Salah will have tough competition for the award as he is up against Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Brentford’s Bryan Mbuemo, Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, Aston Villa’s Amadou Onana, and Chelsea star Cole Palmer.

The Norwegian striker is the biggest candidate for the award after scoring seven goals in the opening three games of the season, including two hattricks.

Mohamed Salah has won the Premier League Player of the Month award five times before in November 2017, February 2018, March 2018, October 2021, and October 2023.

Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane are the record-holders with seven awards, with Steven Gerrard and Cristiano Ronaldo in second place with six awards each.

For now, Mohamed Salah will shift his focus on international duty as Egypt face Cape Verde and Botswana in the AFCON qualifiers on September 6 and September 10 respectively.
