Egypt international and Pyramids FC forward Ibrahim Adel has been linked with moves to Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Rangers.
Adel had an impressive Paris Olympics campaign, scoring three goals to help Egypt finish fourth and earned himself a place in the Team of the Tournament.
It seems like the European interest isn’t ending anytime soon as Scottish giants Rangers are said to be keen on bringing the player to the Ibrox Stadium, according to the Daily Record.
This marks the second time that Rangers are being linked with a move for Adel after reportedly failing with a deadline-day move last summer as the deal could not be agreed in time.
The report revealed that Rangers will have to pay up to £5 million if they want to land Egyptian, but will have to act quickly as they are not the British side trying to sign Adel this summer.
Newly promoted Premier League sides Ipswich Town and Leicester City are said to be also considering a move and £5 million shouldn’t be a problem for either of them.
Ipswich Town is led by Egyptian skipper Sam Morsy, which could motivate Adel to join the Tractor Boys, who are playing in the Premier League for the first time since 2002.
The report adds that while Adel’s preference is to play in the Premier League a move to Scotland hasn’t been ruled out; however, Rangers insiders insist they are yet to make an official approach for the player.
Rangers boss Philippe Clement is keen to add to his attacking options ahead of Sunday’s opening Old Firm clash of the new campaign after losing the services of Abdallah Sima and Kemar Roofe.
Ianis Hagi and Todd Cantwell have also been frozen out of the Belgian’s first-team squad having been put on the transfer list.
Adel’s name is the latest to be linked with a switch to Glasgow, with Norwich City winger Abu Kamara, Benfica attacker Tiago Gouveia, and Fiorentina’s Josip Brekalo also on the list of targets being considered by Clement and his recruitment chief Nils Koppen.
