Scottish giants Rangers failed with summer swoop for Ibrahim Adel

Scottish giants Rangers have reportedly failed with a deadline-day move for Egypt international and Pyramids FC forward Ibrahim Adel.

Adel impressed in the 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations, leading Egypt to the final as well as securing them a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

His performances earned him the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations Best Player award ahead of Barcelona’s Abde Ezzalzouli.

Amidst such success, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Adel has attracted interest from FC Nordsjælland and Anderlecht, with several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle United also keeping tabs on the Egyptian.

Joining them in the race for Ibrahim Adel are Brighton, Brentford, Aston Villa, West Ham, Burnley, and Southampton, reports have revealed.

But now according to TEAMtalk, Scottish giants Rangers were the team to approach Pyramids for Adel, but the deal could not be agreed in time before the transfer window shut down on September 1.

Despite the transfer window shutting down for most of Europe, TEAMtalk went on to reveal that Adel could still depart Pyramids FC as unnamed Russian clubs are keen on the Egypt international.

The 22-year-old forward is under contract at Pyramids FC until the summer of 2026 and the club has put a price tag of €5 million on the player.

Adel joined Pyramids in 2018 from the Portsaid-based club El-Mareekh and since then made 110 appearances for the club in which he scored 26 goals and assisted nine times.
