Kaizer Chiefs manager Nasreddine Nabi has provided an update on his Egyptian Premier League-based targets Percy Tau and Fiston Mayele.
It’s known that the Tunisian head coach has identified Al Ahly’s Percy Tau and Pyramids FC’s Fiston Mayele as top targets for Kaizer Chiefs.
Pyramids FC have already reportedly rejected an offer from the Chiefs; however, the South African side is expected to come back with a much-improved.
On the other hand, it has been previously revealed that Kaizer Chiefs are also in talks with Percy Tau, whose future in Cairo still seems undecided.
Asked to give a transfer update on both of his targets, Nabi said: “There are no negotiations with Percy Tau because I believe he still has one year left on his contract.
“Kaizer Chiefs respects the rules, and if there is an interest in signing him, it will be done through official channels because we respect the laws and the big club, Al Ahly.
“So far, we haven’t opened any lines of negotiation with Al Ahly.”
On Mayele, Nabi added: “I coached Fiston Mayele at Young Africans, a club where he has developed significantly.
“We are in constant communication, and we know that Pyramids won’t easily let him go. We wished to sign him, but I don’t think it’s possible at the moment.”
Kaizer Chiefs are long-term admirers of Percy Tau and had also weighed up a move for the 30-year-old in the previous transfer windows.
It’s understood that Al Ahly will keep Tau for one more season if they fail to find a sale for him, but this might all change after interest from Kaizer Chiefs.
On the other side, Mayele had a dream debut season in Egypt, finishing second on the league’s top-scoring charts after netting 20 goals and assisting five in 41 games across all competitions.
