Egypt draw Mali & Gabon in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations

Egypt have discovered their opponents in 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations that qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympic men’s football tournament in Paris.

Defending champions Egypt have qualified for the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations after beating Zambia 2-0 on aggregate.

The 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Morocco between 24 June and 8 July 2023 and acts as a qualifier for the 2023 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The draw of the final tournament was held on 5 May at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Salé and saw the Young Pharaohs being put in a balanced draw.

As defending champions Egypt were put on the top of Group B, which also included Mali, Gabon, and Niger.

Egypt’s opening game will see them face Niger on June 25, before going on to face Mali and Gabon on June 28 and July 1 respectively.

Egypt will play all three games at the Ibn Batouta Stadium in Tangier, with the top two teams reaching the semi-finals of the competitions.

Subsequently, the two finalists and the third-placed will qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics, while the fourth-placed will go to play in the AFC–CAF playoffs to decide the final slot at the Olympics.
