The Egyptian Olympic Committee officially banned Zamalek President Mortada Mansour for two years for insulting the committee chairman Hisham Hattab and board members.

In addition to suffering a series of bans including being banned from all football-related activities by the CAF for insulting CAF President Ahmad Ahmad and General Secretary Amr Fahmy, violating articles 131 and 132, Mortada was handed a nationwide media ban by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt.

He was also banned from all handball activities for one year by the African Handball Federation.

The general assembly of the committee decided to take legal actions by escalating the case to the Center for Sports Settlements and Arbitrations to drop the membership of Mortada from Zamalek, thus ousting him from his position as the club’s President.

It is worth noting that the committee decided that Zamalek will lose any game played in all Olympic and non-Olympic activities if the President of the club was present during any of these games following the violations made against the chairman of the committee and the President of the Handball Federation.

The official statement said that a letter will be sent to the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to intervene and mediate between the two authorities.

The committee is preparing to form a delegation of members of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, as the highest sports body in Egypt, to meet with the Attorney General to complete the investigation of the complaints concerning abuses by Mortada and address the House of Representatives to lift his immunity in order to enforce the law.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
