EXCLUSIVE: Bradley confirms no Stabæk move for El-Sulaya

Amr El-Sulaya

Former Egypt coach Bob Bradley confirms to KingFut.com that Stabæk have ended their pursuit of Ismaily midfielder Amr El-Sulaya.

Bob Bradley, coach of Norwegian side Stabæk, has confirmed to KingFut.com that he tried to take Egyptian international Amr El-Sulaya to Norway, but unfortunately the discussions did not materialize.

The former Egyptian national team coach revealed that his club have looked at a lot of Egyptian players – as he hinted they would when he was first appointed – however no move was successful for El-Sulaya and the Ismaily player won’t be joining Stabæk.

“We have looked into a number of Egyptian players that I got to know during my two years and that includes Amr El-Sulaya,” Stabæk manager Bob Bradley exclusively confirmed to King Fut.

24-year-old Sulaya, who featured 8 times under Bradley, was often praised by the American coach despite not being a regular in his starting eleven – having only played two World Cup qualifiers against Mozambique and Guinea.

The central midfielder scored four goals and assisted twice for Ismaily during the 2012/2013 season before it was called off, but has only featured in half of the Dervishes’ league games this year.

El-Sulaya’s impressive club form that year led to him trialling with La Liga side Villarreal; however, the board were reluctant to let one of their ‘pillars’ go.

It is important to note Ismaily, who re-signed Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary this week, are currently facing a financial crisis and are reportedly on the verge of bankruptcy.
