Samy Morsy’s Wigan Atheltic beat Ahmed Hegazi’s West Brom at home in matchday 13 of the English Championship.

The two Egypt internationals started the game and played the full 90 minutes, with Morsy picking up an early yellow card for a foul on Tyrone Mears.

The first-half saw Wigan coming close to scoring a couple of times through Josh Windass, Nick Powell, and Gary Roberts, but they couldn’t find the net.

Both teams had chances to score in the second-half, but the only goal of the game came through Josh Windass in the 74th minute after running past Hegazi before firing home past Johnstone.

The game witnessed a red card with five minutes left as West Brom’s Jake Livermore was sent off for a second yellow card for a foul on Windass.

The Latics managed to tighten up their defence and secured a tough victory, which ended West Brom’s eight-game unbeaten league run.

Following the victory, Wigan jumped to eighth place with 20 points, while the Baggies stand still in the third place with four points more.

Ahmed Hegazi’s side next encounter will be at home against Derby Country in the 24th of October, while Morsy’s side will meet up with Millwall away on the 23rd of October.
