Zamalek beat Entag El-Harby, qualify for Egypt Cup quarter-finals

Zamalek have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Egypt Cup following a tough 2-0 victory over Entag El-Harby at Borg El-Arab on Tuesday.

The Whites have qualified for this round following their 1-0 victory over Minyat Samanoud, while Entag El-Harby beat Ittihad El-Shorta 2-0.

The first-half didn’t witness much action from both sides, with the most dangerous chance coming in the 24th minute, when Ferjani Sassi’s deflected shot went inches wide of the post.

Ten minutes later, El Entag forward Moussa Diawara went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

In the 55th minute, Mahmoud Kahraba had a huge chance to open the scoring after he dribbled past El Entag goalkeeper, but the defence blocked the shot before it crossed the line.

Both teams couldn’t score in the remaining minute and headed into the extra time, where the Whites managed to net twice.

In the 102nd minute, Zamalek were rewarded a penalty after Ayman Hefny was brought down inside the box. Mahmoud Alaa stepped up and scored the penalty.

Two minutes after the start of the second-half of extra time, Mahmoud Abdelaziz received a pass from Ayman Hefny, and his cross was deflected by Moaaz El-Hennawy into his own net.

Kahraba had another huge chance to score his side’s third of the game after he went through on goal, but his shot was easily saved by Amer Amer.

The Whites will face the winner of Wadi Degla and Misr El-Makkasa clash in the quarter-finals of the Egypt Cup, hoping to lift the title for the second year in a row.
