Mouad Hajji replaces Amr Fahmy as CAF General Secretary

The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) had named Morocco’s Mouad Hajji as CAF’s new secretary-general, replacing Egypt’s Amr Fahmy.

Fahmy was announced the new Secretary General following approval by the CAF Executive Committee (Ex-Com) that was meeting in Rabat, Morocco back in November 2018. CAF President Ahmad Ahmad had proposed Fahmy’s appointed to the CAF Ex-Com.

However, the executive committee of Africa’s football governing body decided to nominate Hajji during their summit in Cairo ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 draw on Friday night. Hajji used to occupy the CAF Administrative General Coordinator role.

“I decided to appoint a General Coordinator to have a stronger administration and a better flow of information between the political and the administrative side,” CAF president Ahmad Ahmad said.

“Mouad Hajji’s experience in football and football administration will bring the dynamism required to our institution.”
