It's matter of luck, Ivory Coast manager Beaumelle after Egypt defeat

Ivory Coast manager Patrice Beaumelle has expressed his sadness following his side’s defeat to Egypt in the round of 16 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Pharaohs have managed to reach the quarterfinals of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Ivory Coast on Wednesday evening.

Despite being the least favorite going into the game, Egypt were the more dominant side and managed to create several clear-cut chances, and if it wasn’t for the final touch, they could have finished the game inside the normal time.

However, French manager Patrice Beaumelle believes otherwise as he praised his players and congratulated the Pharaohs for their heroic victory.

“It was a tough match for both teams, it’s a matter of luck,” Patrice Beaumelle said after the game.

“The players did their best to put pressure on the Egyptians, so I’m proud of the boys.

“I congratulate Egypt, who will continue its journey in the tournament.

“The frustration is there, but I am not disappointed.

“The match was played on simple details and it was very tactical and balanced. I am optimistic about the team’s future,” he added.
