Uganda midfielder Taddeo Lwanga has rescinded his contract with Egyptian Premier League side Tanta SC prematurely after the club failed to fulfill their contractual obligations towards the player.

Lwanga had joined Tanta from Vipers SC in summer 2019 and has hit the ground running in the Egyptian Premier League.

The 26-year-old midfielder has made 10 appearances for newly-promoted Tanta, providing one assist this season.

Lwanga participated with his national team in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations which saw them exit the tournament from the round of 16.

According to Ugandan outlet Football 256, Tanta defaulted on their contractual obligation, failing to pay the former Vipers SC’s skipper his monthly salary for seven months since the year started on top of the balance of his sign-on fees.

Yelo Management wrote to Tanta requesting an amicable termination of his contract and payment of salaries for close to seven months and signing bonuses that were meant to be paid in January 2020, per the report.

Additionally, Lwanga got 40% of what Tanta owed him and it was agreed that another 12.5% will be cleared plus six-month salary before end of January 2021.
