Egypt international Hussein El-Shahat said that he and his Al Ain teammates will be looking to achieve their own personal goals in the Club World Cup.
El-Shahat who scored six goals and provided four assists for Al Ain this season, talked about their ambitions in the Club World Cup and their preparations ahead of this tournament.
“After just my first half-season, I won the league and the cup and I get the privilege to play in the Club World Cup, I think it’s great. Especially that these are the first trophies in my career,” he told Al Ain website.
“We’ve been eagerly waiting for the Club World Cup since the start of the season and I hope we get to produce some respectable performances to make our loyal fans happy as well as achieve our own personal goals.
“For sure participating in an international competition is not easy because all the teams you face are champions.
“That’s why we properly prepared for it and we’re fully aware that each phase needs more concentration and more tenderness and we have to be very sharp in each game,” he added.
Al Ain will be facing New Zealand side and OFC Champions League champions Team Wellington in their first game in the Club World Cup game on Wednesday, December 12.
