Greek giants Olympiacos have announced in an official statement that they have parted ways with Ivory Coast legend Yaya Toure just three months after joining the club.

Toure rejoined Olympiacos in September on a free transfer after his contract ended with Premier League champions Manchester City.

The 35-year-old played just five games in all competitions with The Red and Whites and failed to implement himself in Pedro Martins’ starting eleven.

“Olympiacos FC and Yaya Touré would like to announce to the fans that they have mutually agreed to end their cooperation,” Olympiacos announced in their official statement.

“Yaya is and remains an important member of the Olympiacos family, who has marked a central part of the history of the club. Olympiacos would like to thank him for everything he has offered to the Club.

“Yaya will remain deeply devoted to the Club and wishes to Olympiacos lots of success. Yaya is leaving as a friend and the doors at Olympiacos will always be open for him. Our paths will surely cross again.”

During his short stint, Toure has made only five appearances for the club, with providing any goal or assist.
