OFFICIAL: Al Masry release Amro Tarek, Amr Marei on free transfers

Al Masry have announced the contract termination of former Egypt internationals Amr Marei and Amro Tarek

Al Masry have been struggling this season as they currently sit eighth on the league table with 20 points from 15 games, seven points away from the top four.

In hopes of turning their season around, the club appointed Egypt legend Hossam Hassan as their new head coach last December, and he has been active in the current transfer window.

The club signed Cleopatra FC duo Sherif Dabo and Riga, but on the other hand, let go of eight players, most notably Mohamed Antar, Haythem Ayouni, Ahmed Masoud, and Farid Shawy.

The most recent names to join this list are striker Amr Marei and defender Amro Tarek, who saw their contracts terminated by mutual consent.

Marei joined Al Masry in September in 2021 from Pyramids FC, but this season he managed to play only twice, none of which came under Hossam Hassan.

The 30-year-old striker, who has two caps to his name, will now look for a new club after spells with Wadi Degla, El-Dakhelya, ENPPI, Etoile du Sahel, Pyramids FC, Misr El-Makkasa, and El-Gaish.

Meanwhile, Amro Tarek had only joined Al Masry last September from relegated El-Gouna and since then made seven appearances, including three starts.

Tarek also represented Egypt twice and spent the majority of his career outside Egypt with the likes of Real Betis, Columbus Crew, Orlando City, and New York Red Bulls.
