Egyptian Premier League outfit El-Gouna have announced the re-signing of Egypt international and New York Red Bulls defender Amro Tarek for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old had spent a two-year spell at El-Gouna between 2013 to 2015, before leaving for La Liga club Real Betis for a fee around of €300,000.

During his first spell, Amro made 47 appearances for the Hurghada-based club across two different seasons and was an integral part of the club’s squad.

He becomes El-Gouna latest signing following the additions of Al Ahly defender Mahmoud El-Gazzar, El-Makkasa’s star Shimelis Bekele, and Amro’s brother Kareem Tarek from ENPPI.

Joining Red Bulls back in December 2018 from fellow MLS club Orlando City, Amro Tarek made 46 appearances for the club, scoring once and helping them reach the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-finals as well as reaching the MLS Cup playoffs twice.

Amro Tarek has played for numerous clubs in Egypt, including Asyut Cement, ENPPI, and Wadi Degla. He also featured for the U19 team of FC Magdeburg, SC Freiburg II, and Wolfsburg II.

On the international level, Tarek has represented Egypt on two occasions, making his debut against Togo in March 2017, before playing once against Swaziland in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers. He also appeared for the United States at the Under-20 level.
