NY Red Bulls defender Amro Tarek has explained why he had to leave Ismaily while also stating the reason behind his failed move to Zamalek and the stakeholders in the matter.
Tarek joined New York Red Bulls last year from Orlando City, as he made 22 appearances for Orlando, scoring once in the MLS as the Florida side finished bottom of the Eastern Conference.
The 28-year-old was traded to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.
During his tine in New York, Tarek has made 33 appearances, scoring once, helping them team reach the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Prior to that, the Egypt international had joined Ismaily in summer 2016 but his spell at the Yellow Dragons lasted roughly for a month as he terminated his deal with the club.
“When I rescinded my Real Betis contract I was a free agent and decided to join Ismaily,” Tarek said.
“However, there was big chaos at the club. I received a dishonoured cheque from the club, I returned to the board and told them that I wish to leave,” he added.
The former Wadi Degla defender also spoke on his uncompleted transfer to Zamalek.
“I had signed for Zamalek before joining Ismaily. By coincidence, I later on saw Mortada Mansour, Zamalek president then, saying that my deal was cancelled accusing my agent of brokerage.
“I don’t know why the deal was not completed until now,” Tarek revealed.
Tarek had started his career with Asyut Cement, before moving to ENPPI, German clubs 1.FC Magdeburg, SC Freiburg, and VfL Wolfsburg.
Spells followed at El-Gouna, La Liga outfit Real Betis, MLS club Columbus Crew, ENPPI, Wadi Degla, Orlando City, and most recently New York Red Bulls.
On the international level, Tarek, 28, has two caps to his name, with his last game coing in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers against Eswatini.
