Amro Tarek out for two months due to ankle injury

Egypt international Amro Tarek will be out for two months after undergoing a minor surgery on his ankle.

Tarek has had a strong start to the season after playing 20 games for the New York Red Bulls in the MLS, scoring once and providing an assist while guiding them to a playoffs spot.

However the former Real Betis man suffered an ankle injury during the Red Bulls match against Seattle Sounders FC in mid-september. Now the club have announced that the Egyptian is expected to return in four to six weeks after undergoing an injury on his ankle.

Tarek joined the Red Bulls in the previous winter transfer window coming from league rivals Orlando City and has since made 21 appearances and secured 19 starts.

The 27-year-old has made his debut for the Egyptian national team as recently as 2017 but failed to secure a spot in the Pharaoh’s 2019 AFCON squad. While also missing-out on Hossam El-Badry’s squad ahead of their friendly against Botswana on October 14th in Cairo.
