Mohamed Salah scored before going out due to injury as Liverpool defeated Newcastle United 3-2 in the 37th fixture of the English Premier League.

The Reds opened the scoreline just 14 minutes into the game, when Virgil Van Dijk converted Trent Alexandre-Arnold’s accurate cross into the back of the net with a powerful header.

Christian Atsu netted the leveler for the Magpies less than seven minutes later. The Ghanian international was left with a simple tap in after Jose Rondon’s initial strike was saved off the goaline by Arnold.

Two minutes before the half-hour mark, the Egyptian King restored Liverpool’s lead as he finished Arnold’s well-placed cross with a cleverly volleyed strike.

Rondon was once again at the heart of attack for the Magpies. The deadly strike got at the end of a loose ball near the edge of the box and smashed it into Alisson Becker’s bottom corner leveling things up once again in the 54th minute.

Divock Origi replaced Salah in the 73rd minute. The Egyptian was stretched off the pitch following a nasty fall.

The Reds continued to push forward and in the 90th minute super sub Origi snatched the full points for his side when he headed Xherdan Shaqiri’s in-swinging crossed freekick past Martin Dubravka.

The hard-fought win means that Liverpool will hold on to their hopes of winning the Premier League, as they currently top the table with 94 points and will await Manchester City’s Monday clash against Leicester City.
