Liverpool beat Porto in Champions League quarterfinals

Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool FC have beaten Portuguese powerhouse FC Porto 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals first leg.

Just five minutes into the game Naby Keita opening for Liverpool thanks to a deflected shot, marking just his second leg since joining them.

In the 18th minute Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas struggled to save Mohamed Salah’s powerful volley.

Three minutes later the Egyptian made the most out of a defensive mistake by the Portuguese side to find himself in s one on one position against the goalkeeper. However his shot just went wide.

Then in 26th minute Brazilian international Roberto Firmino doubled the scoring for the Reds with an easy tap in following a brilliant play between him, Henderson and Alexandre Arnold.

Half an hour into the game, Porto had their first clear opportunity after striker Moussa Marega missed a close range opportunity. One minute later the Mali international missed a similar chance.

Three minutes into the second-half Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson played an amazing through ball to Sadio Mane who scored. But the goal was disallowed the goal as he was in an offside position.

Liverpool will now be entering the second leg with a big advantage. The game will be held on Wednesday April 17 in the Estadio do Dragao.

The Reds’ next game will be against third-placed Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday April 14.
