Al Masry drew 2-2 with RS Berkane in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter finals at Suez Stadium.

Al Masry nearly opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Ahmed Yasser, whose brilliant strike missed the target by a narrow margin following a clever one-two pass with Mahmoud Wadi.

Seconds before the halftime whistle, the Moroccan side took the lead when Mohamed Farhany found Mouhcine Iajour inside the box and the latter’s composed finish nestled into the back of the net.

The second half started with a bang, as Al Masry leveled things up in the opening minute. Wadi squared the ball to Meftah Taqtaq, who converted past the goalkeeper.

The Egyptian side continued to pile up the pressure and around the one-hour mark, Al Masry turned the table around as they took the lead through an own goal by Zouhair Laaroubi.

Eight minutes ahead of the fulltime whistle, Iajour doubled his tally when he headed Alain Traore’s crossed corner kick past Ahmed Abdel-Fataah to make things level once again.

It is worth mentioning that Al Masry will face Berkane in the return leg on the eight of March.
