BASKETBALL: Al Ahly knock Zamalek out of Egyptian Cup semi-final

Al Ahly have beaten arch rivals Zamalek in the semi-final of the Egyptian Cup, and will now face Ittihad of Alexandria in the final.

Despite a very close first quarter, Al Ahly were able to finish ahead 26-19. The Red Devils then increased their lead to ten points by the end of the second quarter, to make it 44-34 by half-time.

Al Ahly continued their dominance in the second-half and had a 12-point lead after the third quarter, which ended 64-52.

Zamalek picked up the pace in the fourth and final quarter and managed to reduce the deficit to just three points. However, it wasn’t enough as the Reds were able to end the game in the favour, 77-67.

Al Ahly will now compete for their first Egyptian Cup title since 2018 with Ittihad of Alexandria, who beat Tala’a El-Gaish 82-60 in the other semi-final.
