VOLLEYBALL: Al Ahly continue winning streak and lift Egypt Women’s Cup

Al Ahly women’s volleyball team have preserved their 101-game winning streak by beating Shooting Club SC in the Egypt Women’s Cup final.

Al Ahly beat Sporting Club of Alexandria while Shooting Club beat Al-Shams, to face off in the Egypt Cup final.

The final was played in a best of three format, meaning that the first team to win two matches secures the trophy.

The Reds had a big advantage going into the match, having won 3-0 in the first encounter.

They started the match by winning the first set 25-17, before losing 21-25 in the second set.

Al Ahly then went on to win the third and fourth sets, 25-21 and 25-23, meaning they needed just one more set to clinch their 34th title.

Shooting Club seemed to be closing in on the defending champions, having taken a 9-18 lead but the Red Devils produced a great comeback to eventually win 25-23.

This marks the team’s 101st consecutive win across all competitions, with their last defeat coming against CS Sfaxien of Tunisia in 2019 in the Arab Cup final.
