Amr Warda goal sends Famagusta to Cypriot Cup semi-finals

Warda

Egypt’s Amr Warda scored Anorthosis Famagusta’s only goal in their win over APOEL to send his side to the Cypriot Cup semi-finals.

Famagusta were going into the game with a slight disadvantage, having lost the first game 2-1 away from home.

This meant that Famagusta needed to win by just one goal in order to qualify for the next round, given that the away goal rule still applies.

The hosts did exactly that and managed to snatch a 1-0 win thanks to an Amr Warda strike in the 43rd minute.

This comes just a few days after the Egyptian scored in his team’s 4-1 thrashing of the same opponent, this time in the league.

Famagusta are yet to discover their semis opponent as there are still two games to be played in the quarterfinals between Onisilos and AEK Larnaca as well as Omonia and AEL.
