It has been reported that Aston Villa manager, Steven Gerrard, is looking to sell Egypt international Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet this summer.
Upon his return from his knee injury, after a nine-month absence, Trezeguet was immediately sent on loan to Turkey’s Istanbul Basaksehir.
The 27-year-old quickly adapted to his new team, having scored four goals and provided two assists in his six appearances so far.
Trezeguet was even named Basaksehir’s Player of the Month for February following his great displays, which could highly benefit Aston Villa.
According to the Birmingham Mail, the Villa board and manager Steven Gerrard are looking to ship off the winger this summer, and his form might make him more saleable.
The Egyptian has a lot of competition in his position with the likes of Leon Bailey, Philippe Coutinho, Emiliano Buendia, and Bertrand Traore all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Trezeguet had joined Aston Villa in July of 2019 from Turkish side Kasimpasa to play under then-head coach Dean Smith.
His career in England started well as he played 34 of the possible 38 league games and scored decisive winners against Crystal Palace and Arsenal to help the team avoid relegation.
He also scored a last-minute winner against Leicester City to guide the Villans to the EFL Cup final, which they eventually lost to Manchester City.
However, Trezeguet had a stroke of back luck in his second season, suffering multiple injuries, which ruled out him for the majority of the season, before playing just ten minutes this season under Steven Gerrard.
Overall, Trezeguet made 64 appearances for Aston Villa, scoring nine goals and providing five assists
