Carlos Queiroz: I deny speculation pointing requirements from my side

Queiroz

Egypt national team manager, Carlos Queiroz, opened up about his ongoing negotiations with the Egyptian FA (EFA).

In September of last year, Carlos Queiroz was appointed as Egypt’s national team manager after the dismissal of Hossam El-Badry.

Since then, he has led the Pharaohs to the semi-finals of the Arab Cup in Qatar and the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

He was also close to the 2022 World Cup qualification but his side was eliminated after losing to Senegal in a penalty shootout.

The 69-year-old resigned from his position after losing to the Teranga Lions, but the EFA are yet to accept his request.

Several rumours emerged suggesting that the Portuguese coach is making several demands in order to continue in his role, something he completely denies.

“Following the recent news and comments, I categorically deny any speculation pointing requirements or demands from my side, related to staff or any other subjects around the National Team,” Queiroz wrote on his Twitter account.

“In fact, as agreed with the EFA, until the outcome of the protest presented to FIFA, regarding the playoff match with Senegal, there is no room for any kind of discussions or decisions.

“I truly regret all the fake news and comments using my name and all the toxic effect for the National Team fans and the public opinion. Thank you for your support,” he concluded.
